From 2020 onwards, the Rolex Oyster Perpetual Submariner, considered by many to be the quintessential dive watch, is available without a date, in a slightly larger size, and with an updated movement, but still keeping its original design. This is our first encounter with this new watch.
We had to wait a long time for Rolex’s latest innovation in 2020. Rolex launched a new generation of Oyster Perpetual Submariner and Submariner Date replica watches in September. These watches are slightly larger and now come with new movements – the Submariner with the recently released caliber 3230, and the new Submariner Date Edition with the caliber 3235 for the first time. The Submariner Date Edition is available in a surprising array of color combinations, while the Submariner Edition without a date display keeps its original design. We were able to preview the new Submariner shortly after its introduction.
Upgraded Details Result in New Proportions
If you thought that Rolex’s innovation meant a revolution, you were wrong. But the Submariner has been modified to the point that the sum of its various details forms a new fake watch. The diameter of the watch has been increased from 40 mm to 41 mm, or more precisely, from 40.6 mm to 41.36 mm when viewed diagonally from 2 to 8 o’clock. The crown guard and lugs are thinner, but this increases the width of the lugs by a whole millimeter, to 21 mm.
The Dive Watch Stands Out with Technical Features
The bezel toggles perfectly, counterclockwise, in crisp half-minute increments. The edges are deeply knurled and grooved to provide a secure grip for wet hands or diving gloves. The rotating ring has a digital Cerachrom insert made of special black ceramic. the recessed numerals and markers on the 60-minute track are coated with a thin layer of platinum using a PVD process. Rolex has developed expertise and innovative manufacturing processes to create a strong, color-saturated, extremely scratch-resistant special ceramic for the production of monobloc bezels and tracks, and now has its own completely independent production of ceramic components.
The bezel with ceramic insert is part of the robust Oyster case, which fake Rolex guarantees to be resistant to 30 bar, the equivalent of 300 meters of water. It is the epitome of durability and reliability. Its case frame is made of a single block of stainless steel for exceptional resistance to corrosion, which Rolex calls “Oyster steel”. In addition to the sealed case-back, the Triplock winding crown ensures the prescribed water resistance with its triple-sealed, screw-down design and protective crown guard. The top crystal is made of scratch-resistant sapphire, and the Submariner Date adds a Cyclops magnifying glass at 3 o’clock to improve the readability of the date.
